Canada’s Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a fast-track immigration pathway designed to help employers in the Atlantic Provinces New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia hire foreign skilled workers to fill critical labor shortages. This program replaces the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP), which ended on December 31, 2021, and has been a permanent immigration pathway since January 1, 2022.

What is the AIP?

AIP is a community-driven immigration initiative that allows designated employers in Atlantic Canada to recruit skilled foreign workers and international graduates. Unlike other programs, AIP does not require employers to obtain a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), making it an attractive and efficient option for both employers and applicants.

Eligibility Requirements

For Employers:

Must be designated by the provincial government.
Must provide a full-time, non-seasonal job offer to a qualified foreign worker.
Commit to supporting the employee’s long-term settlement in the community.

For Applicants:

Secure a valid job offer from an AIP-designated employer.
Meet the language requirement (CLB/NCLC Level 4 or higher in English/French).
Hold a minimum high school diploma and complete an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if educated outside Canada.
Have at least one year of relevant work experience within the past three years.
Obtain a provincial endorsement and commit to applying for permanent residency within 90 days of receiving a temporary work permit.

The employer must endorse the job offer before the application process begins.

Step 2: Obtain Provincial Endorsement

Develop a personalized settlement plan with a designated settlement service provider.
Submit your application for provincial endorsement.

Step 3: Apply for Permanent Residency

Use the endorsement certificate to submit your PR application to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Upon approval, relocate to your new job and begin your new life in Atlantic Canada!
